Abstract:

The paper presents a methodology for analysing mechanical doffing comb devices which take off the web in carding machines. A discrete model of the doffing device, worked out with the use of the FEM method, is presented. The results of an analysis of the calculation model are compared with the results of the experiment, affirming the correctness of the adopted assumptions. The criterion of the doffing comb device evaluation has been formulated while taking into account the permissible amplitudes of vibrations of the doffing blade. On the basis of the results of computer simulations, we described diagrams which may be helpful in selecting doffing comb devices to rework a given range of fibres. Directions of constructional changes contributing to an increase in the efficiency of doffing comb devices are presented.
