Impact of the Level of Yarn Twist on Sized Yarn Properties

Abstract:

The impact of the level of yarn twist on the size pick-up, abrasion resistance and breaking force of yarn was analyzed. A cotton yarn differing only in twist level was used for testing. The sizing process was carried out on a laboratory sizing machine. Sizing conditions were varied, namely the squeezing force and size recipe. According to the results obtained, the level of twist affects the size pick-up, abrasion resistance and breaking force. Based on the coefficient of correlation, it can be claimed that the level of twist in relation to the size pick-up and breaking force is very high, confirming that a very close correlation is systematically proved.
