Abstract:

The influence of the quality characteristics of yarn on the optimum manufacture of fabrics was analysed. Based on yarn properties, an optimal size pick-up which would yield satisfactory fabric quality and optimal yarn breaks on the loom was sought. The correlation between the following parameters was examined: size pick-up, end breaks in weaving, yarn quality according to classes, and breaking force. The tests were carried out on three warps sized with five pick-ups of various sizes and woven in two weaves. The results obtained revealed a certain dependence of the parameters, and the possibility of establishing the optimum costs and quality of the woven fabric.
