 Full text | references | Abstract: A new covering technology for producing covered yarns is proposed in this article. On a traditional yarn covering machine, a hollow spindle rotates with a bobbin of the outer wrapping yarn. In the new equipment, the turntable rotates with only one single outer wrapping yarn. With a magnetic device, the bobbin of core yarns is suspended in a balloon formed by outer wrapping yarns. The rotation speed of the turntable can reach 40000 rpm. A series of experiments on the new equipment were conducted and some covered yarn samples were obtained. The performance of these samples were tested and compared with that produced by traditional machines. |
