Abstract: On the basis of a computer image analysis, the surface porosity of knitted fabrics was evaluated by establishing the size of clearances created as an effect of flight channels in the plain double-layered and lining knitted fabrics. It was found that air permeability, in contrary to water vapour permeability, is a function of the thickness and surface porosity of the knitted fabrics.
