Full text | Abstract: This paper presents the results of analyses comparing the theoretical and practically established data of the structure parameters of ribbon-type knitted yarns and fabrics knitted from them. We propose a method for calculating ribbon-type knitted yarn’s linear density. It was determined that the linear density of ribbon-type knitted yarn depends upon the linear density of the initial yarn, stitch length and course spacing. We present a method for determining the area density and tightness factor of knitted fabrics from fancy ribbon-type knitted yarns. The structure parameters of these knitted fabrics can be calculated using a new geometrical model of the knitted loop shape. The method presented enables us to perform calculations that may be used for practical purposes. |
