Abstract: This article presents a method of adapting classical ring spinning machines to compact spinning. Technological investigations carried out by the authors into the quality of yarns obtained by this system are described. In order to realise this aim, a reconstruction of the drawing apparatuses of ring spinning machines were made basing on mechanical condensing of the fibre stream in the drawing zone. This latter was obtained by using a Solospun-type device. Thanks the reconstruction carried out, a modified drawing apparatus was obtained suitable for compact spinning of wool-type yarns.
